About Faith

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." - (Hebrews 11:1)

The Foundation of Faith

Understanding God's love and your relationship with Jesus Christ

It Starts with God's Love

Faith begins with God's love and faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. The Bible speaks about faith as "confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1) It is a journey rooted in God’s love and a deep trust in Jesus who is the foundation of every Christian's life.

The Way of Salvation

The "Gospel" literally means Good News. It is the message that God provided a way for us to be rescued from death and brought into His Kingdom, both now and for all eternity.

The work of salvation and redemption is already finished; Jesus Christ fully accomplished it on the cross for you. (Acts 3:19-21)

Steps to Becoming Born-Again: According to the scriptures (such as Romans 10:9-11 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-11), responding to this gift involves five key movements of the heart and mind:

1. Acknowledge: Recognize that you are a sinner in need of God's grace.
2. Repent: Be willing to turn away from sin and move toward God.
3. Believe: Trust with your whole heart that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and that He was resurrected by the power of God to pay your debt forever.
4. Confess: Publicly acknowledge your faith in Jesus to others, standing firm in your new life.
5. Baptism: Be baptised in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

This is the gospel—the good news! God made the way for you to be rescued from death so that you can be brought into His Kingdom now and for all eternity.

Jesus: Fully God and Fully Human

Jesus not only claimed to be the Son of God—He demonstrated His divine nature and power through His resurrection and the many miracles He performed while living on earth. Over five hundred people witnessed Jesus alive after He was raised from death. (1 Corinthians 15:6)

Jesus accomplished things that no human being can do: He raised people from the dead, created sight in a person born blind, calmed storms with His words, healed the sick with a touch, and fed over five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. (Mark 6:30-44) These are just a few examples of His recorded miracles.

When Jesus walked the earth over two thousand years ago, He was not born like an ordinary human being. He was born of a virgin through the power of God. Jesus was both fully human (without a sin nature) and fully God. In effect, God Himself stepped into human history in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, to do something for us that we could not do for ourselves.

The Problem of Sin

Sin entered the world when the first human beings disobeyed God. This first act of disobedience against God brought death and sin into the world for all people. As a result, all human beings are now born with a sin nature that has been passed down to all humanity. (Romans 5:12-17)

If you have ever told a lie, stolen something, cursed at someone, lusted, hated, been prejudiced, or even thought something spiteful or mean, you have sinned. Sin has a consequence, and the Bible tells us that, "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). The Bible also says, "everyone has sinned and falls short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

God cannot tolerate any sin in His presence, so our sin separates us from God. God is perfect and holy beyond comprehension. To satisfy God's holy justice, the sin debt had to be paid before we could be restored to God. (Isaiah 59:2, 1 Peter 1:16, 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Jesus: The Perfect Sacrifice

Jesus paid our sin debt by being the sacrifice for all of our sins—past, present, and future—for those who believe. Jesus willingly submitted to a horrible and painful death on a Roman cross in accordance with God's will to be the perfect sacrifice, making it possible for human beings to have everlasting life with God. (Philippians 2:8, 1 Peter 2:24)

Just believe in Jesus in your heart, profess your faith in Jesus with your mouth, and ask God to forgive you of your sins. If you are willing to accept this free gift of God's grace by believing in your heart and professing with your mouth that Jesus is the Son of God, you will be saved and the Holy Spirit will fill you.

Your faith in Jesus will save you from eternal death and bring you into eternal life with God. Your life will be changed forever! If you make the decision to become a believer, tell someone, get connected with a Bible-based church, and be baptized as a public demonstration of putting off the old life and putting on your new life in Christ.

You can invite Christ into your life right now. God knows your heart and is not concerned with your exact words but below is a sample prayer:

"Dear God, I want to know You personally and live eternally with You. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Take control of my life and change me, making me the kind of person You want me to be.”
